River cruise food and people - blog subject on request!

The food on the Uniworld  river cruise...

Breakfast... Made to order omelettes.  Buffet: scrambled eggs, bacon, pork and beans, sausages, fresh fruits galore, pastries, breads of all kinds, croissants, muffins, custard tarts, cereals, dried fruits and nuts.

Lunch buffet: beef stew on rice (Tom loved it), salad fixings, white bean salad, fresh fruits, regional cheeses, breads, desserts a plenty, two soups, pasta made to order, cold meats, hot veggies.  The best so far was the spaghetti carbonara. Tom's favorite dessert so far was the mini cream puffs with custard inside smothered in chocolate sauce.

Dinner: steak, chicken Portugese style, salmon, vegetarian option, soups, salads, desserts: baked apples with port wine, Brazillian bread and butter pudding with vanilla sauce, chocolate mousse, hand made ice creams and sorbets, fruit trays, cheese trays, tiramisu

Coffee and tea and cookies are available all day.

All inclusive means local beer and wines, cocktails, all day, any time. They also serve a differnt port every day as this is where port is made. Three types of port : white, ruby and tawny.

The people on board: about 100. All are very friendly, many singles, most over 65, from all over Europe and North America : Trinidad, Puerto Rico, Israel, Canada, New Zealand, Germany, England, Russia, Cuba. Three adorable couples of the mom and daughter - so so sweet.  The moms were in the 80's and 90's.

The crew is so helpful and kind.  The guides are local and do an amazing job.

Uniworld has gotten the Conde Nast number one River cruise  for a few years now.

This is our second cruise with them.  Not disappointed even though we are on the bottom floor without a balcony, I say we are in steerage😊. Saving the money on no balcony means we can stay in Europe longer 😉
