Sydney, Day 6 - Wednesday , January 22

These are some of the things we saw today on our walking tour of our neighborhood and China Town.

This is an indigneous bird , the Ibis, that we see all over. Here he is at Mc Donalds (very popular in AU).

This is the poster for the MS Dash on their big Australia Day on Sunday. It is getting a LOT of press.

This is an adorable group of children all with their red sun hats on. They are on a field trip.

This is a Chinese artist at the Paddy Market in the Hay Market near China Town. His work is beautiful and he uses only one brush.

The fruit and veggies at the Paddy Market were so beautiful and fresh.

This is the entrance to China Town in Sydney. It has so many restaurants, it was almost unbelievable.

This is a statue of QueenVictoria which is just outside the Queen Victoria Building which is a shopping center.

This is Sydney Town Hall. We are hoping to get a tour of the building. It is in our neighborhood.

This is the Queen Victoria Shopping Center. The building was built in the 1890's and was built as a municipal market. It occupies an entire block. It has beautiful stained glass windows and a 19th century staircase. The domed ceiling brings in natural light. It has 180 stores, cafes, and restaurants.  It is in our neighborhood and is a real gem.

More things we have learned:
NO one tips in AU. The cost of service is included in the prices.  Prices of food at restaurants is very expensive.
At a store, if your cost is 12.42 , they round up or down since they do not have the penny.
Food portions served in a restaurant are much smaller than in the USA
